The Hunt
I find such great joy in the hunt. Vinyl box after vinyl box... from Oldies A-F to Soul Clearance, I found some absolute gems during this week's hunt at Amoeba in SF and Amoeba in Berkeley.
A few things I found...
- A Little Elpee sure to bring back memories for Little Elpees
- Rare Decca 7" from Manchester 60's Soul band St. Louis Union ($1!!)
- The now rare 7" of my favorite Velocity Girl song
- Three 7" of some of my favorite Supremes/Diana Ross songs
- The very first Pernice Brothers release
- "Be My Baby"
- My favorite band from Finland
- Sharon Jones with Los Walkysons and wondering "How Do I Let A Good Man Down?"
- And a few oddball releases from Elefant and Stax
But the real gem so far is Andy Smith's Northern Soul on double vinyl. Part of me wants to fly home this second, curl up with my record player and just let it go... but I'll get there soon. In the meantime, I might not be done hunting the Bay so I'd best get out there.
